Just as promised, the Odyssey Team officially released an updated build of its jailbreak tool Tuesday morning in the form of Odyssey version 1.2.1.
The Odyssey Team announced the updated jailbreak tool via Twitter, and the general public can now follow the official download links to grab the latest version for themselves:
Those who’ve been paying any attention to the slew of announcements shared both in the Odyssey Team’s dedicated Discord channel and via their official Twitter page would know that this update concerns to the recent addition of support for the new iOS 13.5.1-13.7 exploit.
More specifically, it improves the exploit’s reliability on A10 and newer devices, including the iPhone 8 and later. In addition, this update disables the new iOS 13.5.1-13.7 exploit on A8(X)-A9(X)-equipped handsets because the exploit doesn’t work as expected on these particular devices and is said to be in dire need of refining.
In case you didn’t already know, the list of devices that come equipped with the A8(X)-A9(X) system on a chip (SoC) include:
- iPhone 6
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone SE
- iPod touch 6th generation
- iPad Air 2
- iPad mini 4
- iPad 5th generation
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (1st generation)
- iPad Pro 9.7-inch
- Apple TV HD (4th generation)
With the aforementioned details in mind, those using A8(X)-A9(X) devices can only pwn up to iOS 13.5 with the Odyssey jailbreak tool at the time of this writing by way of the older tardy0n exploit, but it’s not the end of the world if you have one of these devices running iOS 13.5.1-13.7 in your possession. Those sporting one these devices can still use the checkra1n jailbreak tool and deploy the Odysseyra1n bootstrap for a similar user experience.
