Apple releases watchOS 7.3.1

It hasn’t been all that long since Apple released watchOS 7.3 to the public, but Apple’s back with a new software update.

Apple on Monday officially released watchOS 7.3.1 to the public. As the version number suggests, this is a minor update in the grand scheme of things. The update is available now, as a free upgrade, as is par for the course. To update, the Apple Watch must have at least 50% battery life, be paired and within range of the iPhone, and be connected to its wireless charger.

Use the Watch app to upgrade your Apple Watch.

The update is minor. However, it’s probably an important one. According to the release notes for watchOS 7.3.1, the new software addresses an issue that could see the Apple Watch Series 5 and the Apple Watch SE not being able to charge when the smartwatch is put into Power Reserve mode. With this new software installed, that should no longer be an issue.

Apple released watchOS 7.3 at the tail-end of January. The company is currently beta testing watchOS 7.4 as well, which will allow iPhone owners to unlock their phones while wearing a mask.
