Apple seeds iOS 14.6, iPadOS 14.6, tvOS 14.6, macOS 11.4, and watchOS 7.5 release candidates to developers

Apple is going to release iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 to the public very soon. Ahead of that, though, the final release candidate has been seeded to developers.

Apple will have a pretty quick turnaround for the latest update to iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 when it’s all said and done. The company only seeded the third beta of both mobile operating systems earlier this month, and it looks like the public launch is essentially right around the corner.

Today, Apple has seeded the final release candidate for both iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 to developers. This is the final version of the software ahead of a public launch, which means the company is confident the majority of the kinks have been ironed out. For registered developers, the new software can be downloaded and installed from Apple’s dedicated portal for developers. It can also be downloaded and installed as an over-the-air (OTA) software update on properly registered devices.

As far as what’s new, there isn’t a whole lot. For the AirTag item tracking accessory, users will be able to input an email address as a means of contact when the device is put into Lost Mode. With iOS 14.5 there isn’t an option to input an email address, so this will be a welcomed change for the tracker.

The biggest new addition, though, is easily Spatial Audio with Dolby Atmos and Lossless Audio support for Apple Music. Apple officially introduced the two new features coming soon to its music streaming platform earlier today. However, those features won’t see the light of day until sometime in June, so iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 is just laying the groundwork for a public launch next month.

Apple’s next update also welcomes Apple Card Family to the mix. This feature will let Apple Card owners share their credit line with other members of their family, plus much more.

iOS 14.6 and iPadOS 14.6 will likely see a public launch before the end of May.

Apple also seeded the release candidates for tvOS 14.6, HomePod 14.6, macOS Big Sur 11.4, and watchOS 7.5 to developers as well.
